The article analyzes the role of homocysteine in the development of oxidative-antioxidant imbalance and the formation of vascular endothelial dysfunction in miners with different length of underground works at the coal mines. The levels of thrombomodulin and homocysteine as well as the total antioxidant activity and oxidative activity were determined. Data showed that the miners with hyperhomocysteinemia and length of service of more than 10 years developed oxidative-antioxidant imbalance. The miners with hyperhomocysteinemia and underground work experience from 10 to 19 years had an increase in the soluble form of thrombomodulin whose level reduced after 20 years of service, indirectly suggesting about the decline in thromboresistance and the development of vascular endothelial dysfunction towards coagulation.
