Accumulation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soils and plants of the tundra zone (Komi Republic) affected by coal mining and burning

Бесплатный доступ

The accumulation mechanisms of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in soils and plants of the tundra zone have been surveyed. Soils, lichens, and mosses better accumulate PAHs in impact zones of coal mining as compared with electric power station. Dwarf shrubs and shrubs accumulate PAHs regardless of pollution source. High pollution level of soils and plants is observed at a distance of 0,5 km from mine and 1 km from power station. There exist similar accumulation mechanisms of PAHs produced by coal mining and burning by soils and different plants. The moss of Pleurozium schreberi id recommended to be used as a pollution indicator of tundra phytocenoses with different PAHs and leaves of Betula nana - for assessment of short-time changes in content of polyarenes.
