Mechanisms of symbol generation in psychoanalysis of S. Freud

Бесплатный доступ

The psychoanalytic tradition of Siegmund Freud showed a very peculiar approach to mechanisms generating the symbols, considering them as some manifestations of the unconscious in individual psyche. According to Freud, the work of art and its symbolics reflect, first of all, the images which are forced out into the unconscious. Freud tried to find some deep psychological bases creating the works of art. The symbol expresses the unconscious impressions “trying” to break through to consciousness. Freud called the works of art as “artificial dreams” and saw the role of psychoanalysis in synthesis, association of conscious and unconscious processes of creation and perception - including internal symbolics of this or that work.
