A review of scientific research that reveals the mechanisms of interaction between education, science and social networks is presented. The main positive psychological, social and pedagogical aspects of using social networks for teaching are described. Some recommendations are given for the development of their potential as a means and environment of education. The special role of social networks in ensuring the work of educational institutions in the context of the coronavirus pandemic was noted.
