Medical measures as a type of alternative criminal liability and a means of countering crimes in the field of drug trafficking

The article analyzes the legal nature of medical measures as an alternative to criminal liability and their role in countering crimes in the field of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The classification and characteristics of each type of medical measures applied to patients with drug addiction (forced treatment, compulsory treatment, compromise treatment) are given. The mechanism of achieving the goals of treatment of drug addicts within the framework of medical measures is considered. The analysis of the conditionality of the considered measures is given and their effectiveness is studied. The problems of the application of medical measures and conclusions about the need for their improvement are formulated (compromise treatment).
