The permafrost-ecological characteristic of the western sector of the Russian Arctic shelf

On the basis of multianalysis of underground bedded ice the new genetic type of flat-sheet ice is revealed and the possibility of their formation directly in sea conditions is shown. The mechanism of sea-floor sediments freezing is proposed. Age heterogeneity of permafrost of modern shelf and its differently directed development is established. The transgressive-regresive regime in the Western sector of the Arctic during all Pleistocene and absence of ancient glacial covers on plains of the Russian Arctic and Subarctic regions to the east of Kanin peninsula is given reason. Connection of this fact with ecological conditions of the shelf development is shown.
