To choose the methods of anesthesia for maxillofacial surgery and use them in practice are the main tasks of a dentist, especially, if he works with children. The anatomical and physiological characteristics of deciduous teeth, the features of roots formation and resorption, concomitant pathological processes should be taken into account. The low toxicity of articaine and extensive therapeutic effect have been revealed, which makes it a drug of choice for children, elderly people, pregnant women and nursing mothers. Articaine is recommended for children over 5 years. The dosage of anesthetic is calculated according to the manufacturer''s instructions in accordance with child’s age and weight and the dose factor.
