Local self-government as a social institution: theoretical and practical aspects

The purpose of this study is to study the theoretical and practical foundations of local self-government, presented as a unique social institution. Development of practical proposals aimed at improving the effectiveness of the realization of the right of citizens to independently resolve issues of local importance. The article also reviewed innovations in the field of local government related to the adoption of amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation in 2020. The paper provides the most objective and meaningful definition of the concept of local self-government from a social point of view, and also lists the main features and principles of the noted socio-legal institution. At the same time, the authors drew attention to the study of the essence of the socio-legal interests and needs of the local population and listed the most common and significant rights of citizens in this area.
