The paper explored a substantivizing trend in pronouns of the Kabardian-Circassian language that is interpreted as a particular manifestation of transposition in progress. The study has shown that an atypical syntactic position proved to serve for a predisposing factor for changes in the deictic pronoun semantics and transition to the nominative function. The study inferred that possessive and attributive pronouns, which were closest to the attributes, displayed a stronger ability for an active substantivizing.
