Metabolic effects of combined therapy for chronic periodontitis

The goal of the study is to examine the efficacy of combined (traditional and laser) therapy for chronic periodontitis.Materials and Methods. The authors examined 26 patients with chronic periodontitis, who underwent traditional anti-inflammatory treatment (experimental group), and 32 patients who in addition to basic therapy underwent laser therapy (treatment group). The efficacy of treatment was assessed according to the dynamics of the patient's clinical state and the results of laboratory tests on the 5th and 10th days after the beginning of the therapy.The authors estimated the state of periodontal tissue using clinical indices, hydrophobic and hydrophilic indices of blood toxicity, phospholipase activity, and intensity of free radical reactions of lipid peroxidation.Results.
