Metaphor «food for soul» in Russian language picture of the world (diachronic aspect)

In the article the history of the metaphor «food for soul» in Russian linguoculture is considered. Frames structuring this metaphor are consistently described, lexical units forming metaphorization are found out, grounds of metaphorical transfer and their specific character at different stages are regarded. The research data are Old Russian texts and texts of Classic literature of Modern Age. The author deducts that in Old Russian literature the metaphor «food for soul» was used only for description of religious life of a man, in the literature of Modern Age - for description of religious, spiritual and emotional life of a man.
