Different poets handle metaphors differently. A linguistic analysis of metaphors in a poetic text makes it possible to reveal the relationship between metaphor and an author's individual style. A conceptual metaphor may comprise more than one metaphor, or it may form a metaphoric unit of a number of successively developing images, or create a whole hierarchy of constantly transforming associative images producing a complex multifaceted image. The purpose of the study is to show how the secondary nomination gives expression and individuality to the speech of the author, how occur an aesthetic, artistic building of values (transformation of values) in the context of the work, what is the axiological component of the individual author's metaphors. It is linguo-stylistic analyses of metaphorical units to identify the characteristics of idiostyle of I. Selvinsky. Taking into account the frequency of occurrence of metaphorical units in the works of I. Selvinsky, the fullness of the text by them, and their property to expand the information - it can be argued that the metaphorical units are dominant in the poetic works of I. Selvinsky: the text is practically built on the metaphor. The specific construction of metaphors gives the reader an idea about the peculiarities of the author's perception of the phenomena of reality, his idiostyle. From a stylistic point of view, it should be noted that the author uses metaphors to give expression to the images that illustrate the experience of the poet on the Kamchatka Peninsula. The poet uses almost all figurative means of language, that was armed with the poetry of the early twentieth century. In a complex deployed metaphors of Selvinsky transportation of values can cover several semantic fields, and even – in some cases – all six existing semantic fields.
