Metaphorical modeling of the battle of Kursk in the military-publicistic discourse

The article is devoted to one of the important events of the Second World War - the Battle of Kursk in 1943. The research is aimed at identifying the most frequent metaphorical models used in archival texts of military-publicistic discourse. Research methods include cognitive-discursive analysis, methods of metaphorical modeling and statistical analysis. The author concludes that sports-game, zoomorphic, physiological metaphors, metaphor of inanimate nature are the most frequent in the studied American texts of California Digital Newspaper Collection.
