Metaphors of apophatic discource (on the material of Corpus Areopagiticum)

This paper is devoted to the analysis of some features of the use of metaphors in the apophatic theology. Corpus Areopagiticum was chosen as a source of study. The paper explores the typology of metaphors in apophatic discourse and provides illustrations of their use. The article also examines some theoretical issues of distinction between symbol and metaphor and the reflection of the hermeneutical process of understanding the world in apophatic discourse.
