Metaphors of human maturation in Russian dialects

The article presents the results of a motivational analysis of the Russian nationwide and dialect words denoting the proсess of human maturation. The analysis of linguistic facts leads to the conclusion that growing up is interpreted as the achievement of a certain quantity or quality: completeness, force, time, specific localization in space, mind, inclusion in the society, quality status of maturity, etc.
