In the modern world, everything is changing fast. Methods of learning English are also changing. More and more educational centers use video materials, multimedia, and role-playing games in their work. It is believed that learning a language will be effective only if a person enjoys the process itself, and does not motivate himself only by the fact that learning a language is a necessity. The main goal of learning English is not only the formation and development of the communicative culture of people who study the language, but also their training in practical English language acquisition. Now language teaching has become more applied, whereas before it was more theoretical.

Currently, more and more teachers are using new methods of learning a foreign language that can be more effective. One of the most advanced methods of learning a foreign language is the method of language immersion. Language immersion program as an experimental teaching method. The term immersion appeared in the 60s of the last century in Canada. Because of the two official languages in this country, many Canadians have had difficulty applying for jobs or communicating on a daily basis. Thus, in schools, English-speaking children were taught in French and vice versa. As a result, there was a method of immersion in the language environment, when the teacher teaches or voices instructions in a lesson in a non-native language. A foreign language begins to be perceived as a native language.

The language immersion method is a method of teaching a second language (not necessarily "foreign" for students), in which the teacher voices tasks in the lesson in the students ' second language. According to the method of "immersion", English should be the only means of communication between the teacher and students. The main primary goal of this program is to develop language skills in children whose native language is not English. The following features are characteristic of the immersion method:

  • -    focus on mastering oral foreign speech;

  • -    creating an atmosphere of immersion in the atmosphere;

  • -    activation of the reserve capabilities of the individual.

There are several degrees of immersion in the language environment, depending on the age of students and the time that is allocated to learning the language. Full immersion, where students devote 100% of their time to a foreign language. This type of communication gives you the ability to conduct spontaneous conversations. Partial immersion, where 50 % of the study time is used for language learning. Much attention is paid to the knowledge of the country of the language being studied. Two-way or bilingual immersion, where half of the group of students consists of native speakers of one language, the rest are native speakers of another language. Teaching is conducted alternately in two languages.

The basis of the method of immersion consists in the use of vocabulary and the perception of speech by ear - this is the main barrier for students in modern schools. Therefore, it is necessary to use various techniques to help create a comfortable environment in the classroom and team. As you know, the environment strongly affects the state of a person, their mood, performance, selfconfidence, creative generation of ideas. To create a comfortable environment for communication, students must be allowed to choose their own place, as well as all the classroom space should be open: colorful design, circular Seating arrangement, etc.

In practice, the method of language immersion differs in many parameters from other methods of teaching foreign languages that are currently used. With this method, new principles of selection and organization of speech and language material should be applied, of which the leading ones are activity-based, personalrole, situational-thematic principles. In the process of learning a foreign language needs to show students how to use their existing competence in their native language when learning a foreign need to develop and Refine common to native and foreign languages learning skills associated with completing oral and written tasks in the textbook, grammar handbook.

When applying the method of language immersion, a modern teacher should consider in their lessons such an aspect as the language barrier - not the ability to speak a foreign language. To apply their knowledge in practice, students must train hard, gradually overcoming the excitement that prevents them from concentrating. The teacher must create comfortable conditions for communication and make up for the lack of a natural foreign-language environment. At the lessons, it is necessary to use a communicative method that ensures the active participation of each student in the lesson, stimulates speech communication, contributes to the formation of interest and desire to learn a foreign language.

The most common means are - game, situation, poems and songs. The communicative method is set up to overcome the problem of the language barrier, since it combines translation and grammatical exercises with speech exercises. The main feature is that students have the maximum motivation to pronounce everything that is being studied. Students need to see more live chat to understand that the language they learn, live, communicate that there are people. In this can help of audiovisual means of training films, film extracts used, tapes of radio and television, etc. They can acquaint students with the history and culture of the country of the language being studied, help them visualize and comprehend the phenomena of nature and social life. The rational use of audio-visual tools helps to fill the lack of a foreign language environment in English lessons at both the primary and advanced levels.

Systematic introduction of video materials in the learning process allows children to practice their speech more, helps to create comfortable conditions for overcoming the "language barrier". The pros and cons of using the language immersion method in numerous studies have shown that bilingual children. in General, have higher IQ scores compared to their monolingual peers. These children have much better developed memory, attention, thinking, they have great mathematical abilities. Language immersion leads to the fact that children become bilingual. Students in language immersion classes Excel in other academic subjects as well as students in regular classes. In addition, a second language learned at an early age helps you learn new foreign languages.

The language immersion method is often classified as an intensive language learning method. You can learn to master the basic vocabulary in a short time, but there may be psychological discomfort, since during the lesson the student must refuse to use their native language. The method of immersion helps to achieve tangible results. Gradually, the fear of starting communication disappears, the learning process becomes more exciting, and students are motivated to learn all the subtleties of the language. Teachers who use this method note that the method of immersion is effective only if students have a desire to learn the language. This method provides an ever-increasing confidence in their abilities and facilitates their transition from learning to self-learning.
