The introspective method in the study of the characteristics of the emotional sphere of persons with alcohol and drug addiction

The article describes the characteristics of the emotional sphere of persons with alcohol and drug addiction by the method of introspection. The study participants were 61 people aged 17 to 63 years: 34 people with alcohol dependence, 27 people with drug dependence. It was revealed that an emotional phenomenon are more frequently called by people with alcohol addiction, moreover they aware causes of their emotions. People with drug addiction are more likely to realize the typicality of their emotions and describe them through sound and speech means of expression. In addition, significant relationships were established between the severity of emotional disturbances and the number of statements in free self-report. The conclusion is drawn about the advantage of qualitative research methods (introspection) over quantitative research methods in the study of the emotional sphere.
