Academic V. S. Pustovoit's method of sunflower varieties breeding and its description in different publications

Review of articles and books containing descriptions of sunflower varieties method, developed by academic V. S. Pustovoit, is presented. With a view to characterize the degree of this outstanding heritage assimilation contents of his articles were compared with the descriptions of the method given by another authors. As a result of collected information critical analysis distortions in this method descriptions and interpretations are revealed. The principal causes of these distortions are: a) inattentive reading of V. S. Pustovoit's articles; b) erroneous ideas about physiological processes which alternations by breeding cause oil yields increase; c) false ideas that inbreeding coefficient increase inevitably lead to the proportional increase of inbreed depres-sion; d) lack of knowledge in theory of selection and population genetic.
