Methodical aspects of resource-based approach in enterprise resource planning systems

The methodological aspects of resource based approach on the example of the one of enterprise information system as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) are considered. The arguments in the decision process about implementing an ERP system in the company are listed and analyzed. Two basic approaches to the transformation of resources into a competitive advantage are described. A resource-based model of competitive advantage and features of its application are considered. The conceptual and practical links between resource based approach and the principles of the ERP system are identified. As a result, the results of implementation of ERP system based on the preliminary estimation of resources and capabilities of an enterprise within the framework of resource based approach are itemized. The considered methodological aspects of resource based approach can be applied to other enterprise information systems, for example, ECM (Enterprise Content Management) and CPM (Corporate Performance Management) in the further studies.
