Methodical characteristics of the assessment activities of universities in the world rankings

The article analyzes modern approaches to the compilation of university rankings and evaluation of higher education institutions in world rankings. In particular, the evaluation criteria of the Shanghai rating, QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University, the rating according to the U.S. News and World Report, Webometrics and Taiwan Ranking. The following components of the universities assessment in the world rankings were highlighted: the reputational component, the demand for graduates, the quality of education.
