This study proposes a methodology for testing young engineers and technicians for motivation and labor satisfaction, which are low at Russian enterprises. The methodology combines the advantages of other methods, and also takes into account the features of these professional and age groups. In particular, features of young engineers and technicians' needs have been taken into account. The structure of the test (the number of questions, answer options, their wording, the number of points distributed) are compiled with mathematical and psychological justification for this case. The difference between the intensity and importance of the need is taken into account as well. The necessary transformations were made to verify the truth of the statements of the respondents. Based on this, a mathematical data processing algorithm was compiled to match quantitative indicators to the logical meaning of the questions. Validation of the formula, considering the characteristics of this category of workers, was carried out according to Pearson's criterion and showed a high degree of reliability.
