Methodological features of advanced training in the course “Regional Studies” for secondary school teachers in Kirov Region

The research problem and the rationale for its relevance. The relevance of the research is determined by the need to form a sovereign education system focused on the unity of educational and upbringing space, which implies higher requirements for teachers' professional competence. The trend towards axiologization and humanization of education is present in the regional education system of Kirov region, including in additional professional education. The goal of research is to analyze the methodological specifics of implementing the Regional Studies course in Kirov region and develop tasks for ongoing assessment, interim certification of history teachers — participants of the advanced training course “Features of teaching the Regional Studies course in general education institutions”, as well as evaluation criteria for the final certification work. Methodology. The research was based on a systematic approach to analyzing the methodological features of teaching the Regional Studies course in schools of Kirov region. The research was conducted using methods of analysis and synthesis of regulatory, legal and scientific information, empirical and statistical data obtained during the study of the specifics of teaching the Regional Studies course. The analysis showed that the vast majority of schools in our region use the existing Regional Studies course program. However, the problem of insufficient educational and methodological support for this course was identified. To solve this problem, advanced training courses were conducted, aimed at improving participants' professional competencies in teaching the Regional Studies course through the development of educational and methodological materials for the course. Results. We developed tasks for ongoing assessment and interim certification of advanced training course participants, as well as evaluation criteria for the final certification work. Teachers presented sets of educational and methodological materials on Regional Studies (lesson scenario, methodological recommendations for the lesson, multimedia presentation for the lesson, lesson worksheet). We believe that these teaching materials can also be used by teachers when teaching the course “History of Our Region”. Next, we will define the value-semantic foundations of studying regional history in general, as well as prospects for the development of the regional system of additional professional education in this strategic direction.
