Methodology for the Development of Economic Thinking of Engineers in Students of Engineering Fields of Study

The importance of developing economic competencies and economic thinking in modern engineers, the connection of this area of work of universities with ensuring the technological sovereignty of Russia, accelerating the technological development of the country as a whole and large state corporations (Rosatom, Rostec and others) are substantiated. The criteria for personnel competence are defi ned taking into account the specifi cs of the third stage of technological development of the Russian economy. The shortcomings of existing approaches to the formation of economic competencies in engineering personnel are highlighted. The author's methodology for developing economic thinking in engineers is presented, the central link of which is the addition of educational programs of engineering disciplines with engineering and economic modules describing the economic characteristics of technologies aimed at developing specialized economic competencies in students. The results of testing the methodology at the National Research Nuclear University “Moscow Engineering Physics Institute” are described. The positive eff ect of its implementation allows us to recommend the methodology for implementation in universities training engineering specialists.
