This article highlights the importance of studying the quality indicator known as the non-sinusoidality of the supply voltage. It examines the impact of non-sinusoidal voltage on the heating of an asynchronous motor (IM). A test bench designed to study this effect is introduced, and the principle of operation of the test bench, along with the methodology for conducting experiments, is outlined to determine the contribution of harmonics in the voltage spectrum to the overall heating of the IM. The experimental results are presented, demonstrating the degree of heating caused by voltage harmonics in the thermal output of an asynchronous motor. Additionally, a technique for processing experimental data to determine the steady-state values of the IM temperature and the heating time constant is discussed. The research also addresses limitations related to the impact of voltage spectrum harmonics on these findings.
