In the context of the modern digital economy, where interfirm interaction is characterized by a high degree of integration of participants, there is a need to develop innovative approaches to assess their effectiveness. The article presents a methodology for modeling and assessing the complementarity of exogenous routines aimed at quantitative and qualitative measurement of the level of coordination of actions between organizations. The authors introduced the interaction complementarity coefficient, which reflects the degree of coincidence of exogenous routines between two companies. Based on it, the complementarity indicator was calculated for participants in interfirm interaction using the example of companies in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. This methodology allows us to identify areas of interfirm interaction management in value chains where unification and standardization of exogenous routines is required. This, in turn, helps to reduce transaction costs and increase the efficiency of coordination. The results of the study emphasize the importance of assessing the complementarity of exogenous routines as one of the key factors for successful interaction in the digital economy. Unification of routines allows us to minimize the resources spent on coordination and monitoring of interaction, which is important in the rapidly developing environment of the digital economy. The methodology proposed by the authors can become the basis for further research in the field of interorganizational interaction management, as well as for the development of practical tools that support integration and standardization processes.
