Pre-investment evaluation methodology for projects implementing the principles of the best available techniques

Бесплатный доступ

The article discusses pre-investment evaluation methods for projects aimed at transitioning to the best available techniques (BAT). The long-term benefits of implementing BAT include improving the company’s green image and transitioning to resource-efficient technologies, which, in the long term, increases its capitalisation due to enhanced socio-environmental responsibility. The article describes the main evaluation methods, including the calculation of net present value, internal rate of return, payback period, and profitability index. Qualitative methods are also considered, such as the expert evaluation method and cost appropriateness analysis. The author proposes an integrated pre-investment evaluation method that combines economic and environmental criteria, allowing for a comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of BAT implementation projects. This method helps identify the potential benefits of introducing BAT into production processes, analyse the company’s financial stability, and justify the relevance of the project for attracting green financing.
