In this article we are talking about improving the competence of the economics teacher as a necessary condition for the introduction of innovative educational technologies that are designed for competent teachers. The author comes to the conclusion that benchmarking technology is suitable for this in the best possible way. Of all types of benchmarking, a personal one can come to the aid of an economics teacher. It is noted that the productivity of benchmarking technology lies in the ability to improve pedagogical activity of an economics teacher without serious expenses.
