The article develops a basic methodological framework for studying enterprise cooperative ties in the context of vertically integrated structures, their main determinants and outcomes. For this purpose, we have summarized the essential characteristics of cooperative ties, proposed a classification of the forms and types of cooperative ties in the context of vertically integrated structures, and defined the directions and parameters for studying cooperative ties in the region. This research is on the interfaces between regional, evolutionary, and institutional economics. In the course of research, we have used an analysis of scientific publications, schematization and classification methods. Given the multifaceted and ambiguous nature of the concept of cooperative ties, as well as the limited access to necessary information, the methodological framework of the study allows for a variety of approaches and methods for scientific and practical research in the context of vertically integrated structures. It involves studying the drivers and results of cooperation among enterprises participating in such a structure, as well as its effects on various aspects of the regional economy. The scope of further research is divided into internal and external cooperative ties in relation to the vertically integrated structure and involves the development of a questionnaire for enterprises.
