The article reveals the issues of studying Soviet culture in modern humanities. The unique identity of this phenomenon lies in the fact that it combines eclecticism, modernism, revolutionary nature and strict rationalism in a remarkable manner. However, in Soviet culture, the heritage of the great Russian culture of the 19th-20th centuries and the main antithetical features of its uniqueness have not been lost. The complexity of the analysis of Russian culture is that it is always easier to assess the age that is separated from the researcher for many decades. It is more difficult for a contemporary person to discern trends that will become apparent later, will be more understandable for the descendants. This is the reason to choose the main approaches and methodological characteristics of the study of this problem. The author concludes that its effective study can be carried out if it is based on modern research methods, fixes the results of a person's social practice and reflects its results.
