Methodological bases of popular science tourism

The need to popularize Russian science and create new unusual destinations, determines topicality of the popular science tourism concept. Rising interest among ordinary Russians in scientific organizations and scientific research of their country is a result aimed at increasing the prestige of the country's scientific sector, strengthening patriotism and pride for their state, as well attracting young people to science and increasing the country's human resources potential. That is why popular science tourism today is a priority and relevant area for many destinations and organizations. At the same time, the analysis of the scientific literature shows the insufficiency of the theoretical substantiation of the definitions in science tourism and related terms, the inconsistency and dubitability of certain methodological problems. Therefore, using methodological analysis the article studies the understanding of popular science tourism and scientific tourism in Russian and English-language publications, and considers the typologies of their forms. Based on the analysis, the authors develop a classification of popular science tourism, identify the types of scientific tourists, and characterize the objects of popular science tourism.
