Methodological features of the strategic planning of small cities development

In the article the necessity of the specificity of small towns in the strategic planning process is justified. The strategic planning documents developed at the municipal level is defined on the analysis of the Russian legislation. The stages of development of strategy of socio-economic development of the small city are described. The analysis of the best foreign and Russian practices in the development and implementation of the strategy of development of small cities are presented. The conclusion about the necessity to develop strategies for the development of larger rural settlements, the main purpose of which is to convert them into agrogoroda with high standards of living, is justified.
