Methodological problems of research on the Mongolian legal history

The article is devoted to the methodological problems of the history of Mongolian law. The work emphasizes the importance of researching the monuments of Mongolian medieval law for deepening knowledge of Mongolian law and developing a new scientific discourse in jurisprudence. Mongolian scientific tradition took shape at the beginning of the twentieth century. under the influence of Marxism, however, in practice, ideological requirements did not allow to go beyond assessing Mongol law and the state as feudal, expressing the interests of the feudal lords, as a manifestation of brutal barbaric culture. In overcoming these traditional views, one must rely on scientific foundations, modern scientific methodology and source study. When studying medieval Mongolian legal monuments, it is necessary to attract the achievements of the philosophy of law, political and legal doctrines, linguistics, archeology and anthropology of law, sociology of law and other sciences.
