Methodological challenges for science of international relations

The relevance of studying the methodology of the science of international relations is indisputable for a number of reasons. Firstly, international relations scientists pay little attention to methodology as a special field of research, and therefore there are few works on this issue and this field of knowledge is conceptualized at an insufficient level for modern social science. Secondly, the abundance of applied research available on country studies and interstate relations demonstrates that their methodological development is weak, and they are largely carried out in a descriptive form. Therefore, the novelty of this article is in the designation of the problem of methodology of international political science as a direction that needs to be studied and rethought. The author also considers approaches to methodology in various sciences (sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, etc.) and their relation to the science of international relations. It is shown that the methodologization of the subject of international legal science is necessary, since the subject of scientific research is rigidly correlated with the methods of a particular science.
