The article is devoted to the application of effective teaching methods in the lessons of "Fundamentals of life safety" in 8th grades. It examines the essence of the concept of "life safety culture", as well as the features of its formation at school. It emphasizes the need for Russian students not only to have knowledge about the culture of life safety, but also practical skills in its application. The importance of using such teaching methods as: partially - search method, project method and heuristic method in the process of teaching OBZH is also substantiated. The author analyzes the application of these methods in practice and justifies with the help of experimental data the high efficiency of these methods in the process of forming a culture of life safety.
