Improvement of neuroimaging methods makes it possible to safely study the brain in various pathologies and at different levels. In recent years, there have been many publications on structural and functional changes in mental illness. The article deals with the problems of the relevance of the use of neuroimaging data in the study of etiology, pathogenesis of endogenous mental diseases, as well as the dynamics of clinical and morphological picture under therapeutic influence. Purpose of the study is to analyze neuroimaging data in endogenous mental disorders. The discussed changes in the morphological picture show the differences in the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying the mental illness. This suggests the need for an individual approach to identify the tactics of patient management. Further research in that regard will help in evaluating the effectiveness of therapy, will allow to select neurobiomarkers of various forms of mental pathology and perhaps even to carry out the optimization of the therapy based on the data of neuroimaging studies.
