Methods of image reconstruction and pattern identification in radio astronomy

State-of-the-art radioastronomical instruments may reach a high level of self-descriptiveness only with a developed system of computerization of the experiment. This paper presents methods for reconstruction and correction of solar radio images using the algorithm of projections onto closed convex sets (PCCS), the updated Weiner-Tikhonov filter, and the method CLEAN. An algorithm for separating weak-contrast formations on the solar disk (filaments, prominences and coronal holes) is given. A mathematical apparatus is presented. Observations made with the Siberian Solar Radio Telescope (SSRT) have been used to demonstrate possibilities of the methods, their merits and demerits.
