Metric books as a source for the socio-demographic development of the population (on the example of the suburb of Alekseevka in the Samara region in 1874-1915)

The article is devoted to the analysis of parish metric books of the suburb of Alekseevka of the Samara province for 1874-1915. The standard structure of the metric books is considered in detail in its three main sections: "About the born, "About the married", "About the dead". It was revealed that the studied region was characterized by a positive natural increase. The seasonality of the marriages concluded, as well as the age and class origin of the married people are investigated. The level and main causes of mortality in this region are analyzed.
