The paper summarizes a range of theoretical approaches to the definition of the quality of life at the current stage from different scientific perspectives. The life quality is defined as a multidimensional category. The study describes the features of applying the objective and subjective approaches while examining this category. Thus, an objective approach relies on statistical data collection and assessment, an analysis of particular indicators and their integration. The subjective approach is based on sociological surveys and perceived quality of life model. Different sciences investigating the person’s (population’s) quality of life are to be converged to create a unified research system. It can be followed by an attempt to develop a unified research algorithm for the category of quality of life based on the best research practices. In this perspective, a high quality of life can be regarded as a value, the great achievement of modern times.
Category of quality of life, person, population, objective approach, subjective approach, integral approach, index approach, institutional approach, comprehensive approach, territorial differentiation
