Sociology of childhood implements interdisciplinary links, studies comprehensively the problems of children and childhood, uses a variety of methods to obtain data about their life. The article presents major milestones of formation and development trends of the sociology of childhood in the context of the interdisciplinary nature of the object and subject research fields. The current stage of the national sociology of childhood includes active search for new research strategies and involves children as the main respondents helping to obtain empirical information.
