Between the revolution and the evolution: at the origins of German social-democracy

The article analyzes the evolution of the views of Marxists and their followers in the German Social-Democratic Party of the late XIX century, the role of the revolution and the reformist methods of struggle for the transformation of society, depending on the degree of organization and consciousness of the working class, the alignment of political forces in the country, government policies, technological development and the art of war, the conditions for the implementation of universal suffrage, support for social democratic politics by the working class and other social classes.
