International practice of environmental monitoring in the arctic zone

This publication provides institutional and functional characteristics of international regulators of environmental monitoring in the Arctic zone. Organizations such as the Arctic Council and the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Northeast Atlantic (OSPAR) are designated. The main directions of their activities are characterized in terms of consistent implementation of goals and strategies. In conclusion, it is concluded that it is necessary to expand the control powers of international regulators in order to further improve environmental protection measures in the Arctic zone
