The article presents a study on the role of international environmental law in ensuring sustainable development during the implementation of transnational construction projects. Particular attention is paid to principles such as environmental impact assessment and the “common but differentiated responsibilities” principle. International environmental standards, including green building assessment systems like BREEAM, LEED, WELL, and DGNB, are examined in detail. Dispute resolution mechanisms related to compliance with environmental regulations, as provided in standard contracts developed by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, are analyzed. It is concluded that integrating environmental standards into the legal framework of construction contracts is necessary to minimize environmental risks, achieve global sustainable development goals, and ensure a balanced consideration of all parties’ interests.
