The Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO) is an international organization founded in 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. On July 10, 2015, India and Pakistan announced the start of the SCO accession procedure. The territory of the SCO (including observer countries) is 37.53 million square kilometers, or 61% of the Eurasian continent. The population, according to the world Bank for 2016, is 3.1 billion people (including India and Pakistan).
