International environmental initiatives in the arctic regions of Yakutia in the late XXth century

The article analyzes the history of international environmental projects in the Arctic regions of Yakutia in the last decade of the XXth century on the basis of archival materials and published sources. The author shows a retrospective of the most important initiatives in the field, identifies key actors and factors that contributed to their implementation, the forms of joint work of specialists from different countries in the field of monitoring biological diversity and environmental protection of the region and its main results.
