International mechanisms for the protection of human rights

The article examines universal and regional international legal mechanisms for the protection of human rights and freedoms; highlights the main activities of international and intergovernmental organizations; analyzes the decisions of the European Court of human rights, which allows us to conclude about the effectiveness of this mechanism in the international system. The results of the research can be useful both for the formation of domestic mechanisms for the protection of human rights and freedoms, and for further improvement of the normative process in the preparation of international treaties and Federal laws.
