The article discusses general observations on the reasons for the use of technical means in criminal proceedings and international legal acts. The analysis of the norms of criminal procedure legislation on the example of the Republic of Serbia and the Russian Federation concerning the possibility of using technical means in criminal proceedings is carried out. The tendency of further expansion of the scope of application of the norms of positive criminal procedure legislation is formulated.
