The article discusses the political, socio-economic and demographic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for Russia, analyzes the current practice of the insurance market in these conditions. The authors identified new challenges and threats faced by insurers as a result of the pandemic and the global financial crisis caused by it. Possible prospects for the development of the insurance market in the post-pandemic period are considered.
