Intercultural interaction of Russian and foreign students: major categories in the problem area of pedagogical research

Organizing joint activities of students representing different countries and different cultures requires the creation of an educational environment built on the principles of tolerance. The study of pedagogical conditions for organizing intercultural interaction between Russian and foreign students in the educational space of a university is an urgent task. The key categories that form the problem field of such research are identified: “intercultural interaction”, “pedagogical situation of intercultural interaction”, “student’s intercultural tolerance”. The grounds for determining the content of the concept “intercultural tolerance of a student” have been identified. A definition of the concept of “tolerant behavior of a subject of intercultural interaction” is presented. The structure of a student’s intercultural tolerance includes components - cognitive, affective and conative. Two classes of pedagogical conditions for the formation of intercultural tolerance among students have been identified.
