This article presents the results of studying the types of interpersonal relationships among first-year students of the medical university. Basing on the theoretical analysis and her own experimental research, the author concludes that at the initial stage of the student group formation, future doctors are characterized more by friendliness than domination and aggression, a tendency to seek a compromise and focus on social approval, rather than a desire to rely only on themselves and to toughly defend their position. The results, according to the author, are due to the short period of existence of the student community, poor knowledge of each other by the young men and women, and lack of a clear understanding of their place (status) in their new educational team. On the other hand, the identified features allow us to predict the future status structure of student groups and to outline promising lines for their further study.
