Inter-ethnic harmony in the national region in modern society (based on a sociological study in the Republic of Buryatia)

The study presents data of a mass survey of the population conducted in the Republic of Buryatia in 2018-2019. Inter-ethnic harmony is considered an important consolidating factor in a multi-ethnic society. It is shown that Buryatia is one of the regions with favorable and stable relations between its peoples based on assessments of the population’s concern of the inter-ethnic relations state and their vision of the prospects for its development in the next two to three years. A comparative analysis with the research of the Federal Scientific Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences carried out in other national republics (Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Karelia, Sakha (Yakutia)) led to the conclusion that there are common and different development trends in this area of social relations. The study confirmed that there is a determinative connection and dependence on socio-economic development between the state of inter-ethnic relations and their assessment by the population.
